Do I need a referral?
For most assessments you do not require a referral. Medicare does not provide rebates for most psychological assessments. You are welcome to check if your private health fund provides rebates for child assessments.
A referral from your paediatrician is required if you wish to claim medicare rebates for Autism Assessments (Medicare Item 135, Psychology Item No. 82000). Good Vibes will provide you with a written quote prior to any assessments being undertaken and indicate likely rebate if you have a referral from your paediatrician.
Do parents attend sessions?
Parent only sessions are conducted initially so that discussions can be open and transparent on your child’s difficulties or needs. This can be done face to face or via telehealth.
For very young clients, parents will need to attend assessment sessions together with their child.
For clients from 4 years of age, assessments are usually conducted between the psychologist and your child only so that the best results can be obtained. The psychologist will first make sure that your child feels comfortable and is not experiencing too much anxiety.
What if I have an emergency?
In an emergency please dial 000 for an ambulance or take your child to hospital.
Alternatively phone the Kids Help Line on 1800 551 800 and someone can give you immediate assistance.
Please see your General Practitioner as soon as possible.
What are the fees associated with assessments?
Costs are determined based on your child’s individual needs and funding opportunities. These will be discussed in your first consultation. At Good Vibes we try to keep costs to an affordable limit.
A quote for formal assessments will be provided in writing after we determine the most suitable assessment for your child.
We offer medicare rebates for Autism assessments with a paediatrician referral.
We accept NDIS clients who are self-funded or have an external fund manager.
Third party funding is welcome.
Good Vibes has EFTPOS and direct debit options where small gap payments might apply.
